Blurb –
I knew there was nothing poetic about death.
I knew not that the most horrific battles are fought off the battlefield.
Arjun: The idealist in a non-ideal world; the warrior whose deadliest opponent was his conscience.
History forgot his voice, but misquoted his silence.
My self-esteem originates from me and ends in me.
Why does your honor depend on me? Find your own.
Draupadi: The untamed tigress, the fragrant flame, the unbridled spirit.
Power does not justify sin. Power is not virtue.
Virtue is that which lasts in spite of power.
Krishn : The enigma whose unique ideology churned the battlefield into a quest for Truth.
The Missile …The Trajectory … The Vision.
The trio that makes for the core of The Mahabharata.
This is their saga.
Insightful, visceral and candid .
Review :
I would like to compare Arjun without a doubt to the moon, a serene beauty covering the ripples of expressions, thoughts and feelings of Arjuna and Draupadi yet it is to be noted even the moon hold its flaws.
Mahabhaaratha, our epic is such an evergreen saga whose interpretations , point of views and explanations can stand alone against each other and you may find yourself shifting places and sides; interpretations can be so powerful that you may even start liking Duryodhan owing to his reasons ( maybe ) and recentlu karna was in trend. This book on the side gave a concrete and logical space to Arjun and Draupadi that could hold you to see Mahabhaaratha through their eyes and start believing they were the right ones all along against the rest.
I liked how the pandavas ( side of good ) are depicted with their dark sides explored like humans rather than symbols of goodness and perfection caught up in the evil of destiny and fate; it indeed proves that your karma determines the situation you fall into that is you yourself create it. Lord Krishn is also in a different light and the relation he share with both is depicted well.
One might need to know Mahabhaaratha pre requisitely to follow the book, it is not about retelling the tale but about revisiting them to hear what Arjun and Draupadi. I found the attention on them more severe where others got all the blame and it might turn a little monotonous and boring in between. The writing, research and thought behind this is marvellous.
The end note was a surprise; the comparison ( Alexander the great , bravo! 😉 ) , myths and possible reasons; Impressive!
I would rate this beauty 4 🙂 and *special applause* for the writer for sculpting it.

🙂 you made my day!
Could you tell which part you found monotonous? I deliberately kept the focus on brisk conversations than on long descriptions to prevent monotony.
I’m open to improvements.

The very point in this book, to show thoughts of Arjun and Draupadi became monotonous as I travelled with the book ( there was no space for anyone else ) ; but then that is the idea of it! I mean Arjun became so ideal and the rest so dark. Can’t complain though as i said that is the whole point! Hope you understand 🙂

Ah yes, I did keep the spotlight firmly on them.
I forwarded your review to Leadstart Publishing. They have shared it on their FB page. 🙂

Exactly just like the very perfect quality of pandavas ( like dharmaraj yudhishtir , his dharma paalan itself is his excuse to cause all the issues ) make them non ideal but then that is the whole point and beauty of the book as I said whole concentration on them gives the book two edges 🙂 … And btw really happy to know that 😀
